iPhone 7 Impressions: 8 New Things!

Apple recently unveiled their newest iteration in their iPhone linup, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Although its very similar to the previous iPhone , there are many new things that Apple has implemented this year in its newest model. 8 to be exact.

1. The Home button

The new home button is really very similar to the force touch track pads in their macbooks. It doesn't actually click anymore but is actually just a glass button that provides haptic feedback when pushed. This is thanks to Apple's new taptic engine technology. Although this feature is futuristic and clearly Apple did this to waterproof the phone, the experience just isn't the same. You don't get the same type of feel but instead you now feel the entire device vibrate when the home button is pressed.

2. Water and Dust resistance

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are officially water and dust proof thanks to their IP67 rating. This essentially means that the iPhones are rated to survive under 50 meters of water, which actually a lot if you think about it. You can therefore use in the rain or shower with without thinking too much about any kind of water damage.

3. New Camera

The iPhone 7 has a new 12 MP with an f1.8 aperture , optical image stabilisation and in addition to all of those things the 7 Plus even has the dual camera setup. Both the phones also have a quad LED flash and support RAW image capture .

There's also a new 7 MP front facing selfie shooter that actually looks a lot better than the previous generation cameras on the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus. Therefore anyone into selfies will greatly appreciate this upgrade.

Now Onto the bigger iPhone 7 Plus. The 7 Plus has two 12 Mp cameras but whats different is the lens in front of the two cameras. The camera on the right has a normal 28mm lens but the camera on the left has a 56mm lens which can capture images with much better zoom. Optical zoom to be specific. This is great for times when the subject is farther away from you or you generally can't get close enough to take the shot.

4. Display

The display on the iPhone 7 is mostly the same as before, the same size and the same old resolution , same IPS technology but according to Apple its now 25% brighter than last time and has a wider color gamut. This means that colors will pop more.

5. Stereo Speakers

Although the iPhone 7 duo sport a stereo speaker setup, the speakers are oddly placed, much like HTC did with it HTC 10, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 plus have one speaker on the front above the screen and another one at its normal position, at the bottom of the phone.

6. EarPods

Every iPhone and iPhone 7 Plus will ship with lightning earpods. Yes that's right folks. You've probably heard this now many times but Apple killed the headphone jack. Therefore you cannot use your normal headphones normally and instead have to use the lightning earpods that will ship with every iPhone 7 and iPhone Plus. However if you want to use your normal headphones then Apple will also give a 3.5mm jack to lightning adapter with every iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

7. AirPods

Apple this year also introduced their first generation of wireless Bluetooth AirPods. These do not ship with the iPhone 7 itself but these can be bought separately for $159. That's sort of expensive for a pair of wireless earphones. However Apple did make an odd pair of wireless earphones. Unlike most wireless earphones, the AirPods don't have any wire connecting the two ear pieces. This would however mean that these will be extremely easy to loose and thus you would have to take proper care of them.

8. Specs

The iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus have a new A10 Fusion chip which has a few benefits over the last generation chip inside the iPhone 6s. It has better performance with the CPU and better graphic performance with the new GPU. Its a quadcore chip , with two of the cores being low power cores so that you can effectively save battery when in need. This means that when you are not doing tasks on your phone that require high cpu power, the low power cores will do all the work while using a lot less battery.

So that's pretty much it on whats new with the newest iteration of the iPhone. Although its pretty familiar, Apple did a good job with the actual hardware of the phone. What do you think of the new iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus? comment down below to let me know!

Google Pixel: Why it Might Be a Big Deal

Alright so we now know after yesterday's event , about the new Google pixel phones that are through and through made by Google. This is perhaps the first time that Google has done something like this and by this i mean design the hardware of the phone to fully take advantage of the software , which was kind of the key point that Google was trying to push out during the keynote launch event.

We've got the daydream, Google home and even the all new Google assistant. However there may be a lot more in store for us. Firstly lets talk about the new Pixel phones. As mentioned earlier, the Pixel and the Pixel XL are designed by Google through and through but the actual hardware manufacturer is HTC. Both the Pixel and Pixel Xl sport an aluminum and glass construction. The back panel is mostly made of aluminum, save for the small part near the camera where Google has decided to give the phones a unique look by adding glass panel. Both the Pixel and the Pixel Xl come in 3 different colors. Very Silver, Really Blue and Quite Black

Yes folks, you read that right. And no we didn't make that up. Those are the official names for the color variants of the Pixel phones. In terms of specs, Both the phones sport a Snapdragon 821, 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB of internal storage and storage cannot be expanded through a microSD card. The main feature however, according to Google, is the new camera. Google says that the camera on the pixel has scored the highest by dxo mark, a company that rates professional as well as smartphone cameras.

However even though the phones are technically the most "New" with some new features, there haven't been any groundbreaking new features that the general public should create a hype over. The phones are nothing out of the ordinary and are what many would expect from a high end smartphone these days. The hype that was created before the launch , ended pretty abruptly after Google revealed its somewhat exciting new pixel phones.

But if you're anything like me, wanting something more, then i have good news for you. Google has something in store for us that relates to AI. AI can potentially dos so much for us if developed correctly. The era in which we live can be called as the era of smartphones, where everyone is hunched over , looking at the screens of their devices. You cant blame them , as a smartphone is the primary way some people access the internet. However by doing this people ignore their surroundings. AI could solve this issue with ease. You wouldn't have to look at any screen or type any instructions to get something done. With AI you can just say out loud the commands that you would like your device to perform and it would automatically do them for you. Imagine you telling your fridge to make a list of all the things that you need to get from the grocery store. That future is very near people. In fact Google even gave us a slight glimpse at what its AI could do just on a smartphone.

Now what's interesting is that Google is allowing third party developers to build on their Google Assistant AI. This would mean that many more people outside of Google can now experiment with Google's AI and give us tools that we can use in our daily lives. Improving AI would mean that we could spend more time in the real world while also having a firm foot and a leg in the virtual world of the world wide web.

So what do you think of Google's new assistant AI? and how do you think AI can help you in your daily lives by doing tasks that you normally would avoid? Comment down below and let me know!
